Album Review: In Hearts Wake - Divination
In Hearts Wake is an young melodic hardcore band from Byron Bay, Australia. In 2012 they travelled to America to record their UNFD debut album Divination; the album was recorded at Random Awesome Studios with Josh Schroeder earlier this year.
Divination is the band’s first release with new label We Are Unified (UNFD). The 11 track album scales through the heaviest sound the band has written, the music is memorable, thus these Byron Bay locals have crafted some real Australian hardcore music.
The songs are varied, not many sound the same, their choruses are well written, it’s got that hook of brutal riffs and catchy melodies, Jake (vocalist) & Kyle (Bass/vocalist) are an amazing combo, they bouce off each other, guitars sound raw and intense, drums and top notch right on time.
The album also offers a diverse amount of guest vocals to their songs, these include Winston McCall of Parkway Drive, Chad Ruhlig of Legend, Garret Rapp of The Color Morale & Adrian Fitipaldes of Northlane.
From Rapp’s incredible clean vocal addition to “Inertia (The Hermit)” to Winston’s hardcore/metal vocals during “Departure (Death)” these are welcome additions to the album as extra treats for the fans to hear.
Divination is an album that really shows pure talent that In Hearts Wake have crafted over their career, this is a great way to start their journey on their new label, these guys are some of the new upcoming hardcore bands to come out of Australia lately give them a chance and check them out.
