Album Review: Misser - Every Day I Tell Myself I'm Going To Be A Better Person

I’ve been following Misser since they’re formation and release of EP Problems. Problems. Problems. I’m quite a fan of Transit & This Time Next Year so this group gives me high hopes, and they surely deliver. When I heard that Rise Records signed Misser I was overjoyed with excitement when a full length was on the horizon, now the day has finally come, Misser releases their debut album Every Day I Tell Myself I’m Going To Be A Better Person.

For those who have no clue who Misser is, Misser is a side-project of Brad of This Time Next Year & Tim of Transit, Every Day I Tell Myself I’m Going To Be A Better Person is the first release from their Rise Records signing, the 13 song track listing is quite the task to listen to over and over, but every song on this LP is amazing, it’s hard these days to come across an album with every song being enjoyable.

Tim & Brad are a perfect dual vocal combo for a project like this, they’re very distinct vocal styles but it’s a match made in heaven, they’re writing styles are both slightly different but when combined they create something beautiful.

Misser offers a little refresher with 2 tracks from their EP ‘Just Say It’ & 'She Didn’t Turn Out To Be That Cool’ which are be re-done with subtle and slight differences, which is always nice to see for an album.

Personally my favorite song on the album is Weightless, it’s was the first to be released from the album and it was a perfect song to set up the tone of the debut, it’s incredibly catchy lyrics and melodies, one of the best song i’ve ever heard, the dynamics from both vocalists are astounding, blending from one to another in quick succession.

These 13 tracks are a great amount, none of the songs get repetitive or annoying, they all work around each other, it will be one of my summer jams this year and one of the best releases of the year so far, every time I listen to these songs I hear new things from slight guitar riffs to a rough vocal track whispered into the background. From the slow tracks like Permanently to the fast pop/punk style of Reconnect This, these tracks have a wide range of styles which fit between Brad & Tim’s writing styles.

Every Day I Tell Myself I’m Going To Be A Better Person is a fantastic album, Tim & Brad have brought Misser into the light and have shown what they’re made of, I can’t wait for their next release via Rise Records sometime soon.
